Gala attendees were entertained this year with stellar performances by youth from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside and San Marcos.  These amazing kids left it all on the stage as they sang and danced their hearts out in appreciation of all the supporters in the room.  The gala, aptly named “The Rhythm is Gonna Get You, was filled with outstanding high-energy entertainment by Bonnie Foster Productions.  Not many people were able to resist the dance floor as the Rhythm truly did get them…out of their seats.  Esteemed attendees of the gala included Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA), Dr. Joi Lin Blake, president and superintendent of Palomar College, and Nancy Ann Hensch, vice president of the Palomar Community College District Governing Board. Speeches were delivered from Brad Holland, former Los Angeles Laker and current CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad, and 2016 County Youth of the Year winner Julie Hernandez, who spoke first-hand about the impact of Forte for Children’s charitable donations.” The annual gala was followed by Forte for Children’s 14th annual charity golf tournament on Monday, Aug. 22 at Aviara’s world-renowned golf course, where donors enjoyed 18 holes on the course designed by Arnold Palmer.

Proceeds raised at this year’s fundraising events were allocated to the local beneficiaries and invested into the foundation to ensure Forte for Children’s support of local programs for years to come.  To learn more about DEI’s Forte for Children, to participate in next year’s events or help support Forte’s mission, contact Elizabeth Fox, executive director of Forte for Children, at elizabeth.fox@forteforchildren.org, or visit www.forteforchildren.org.
